Microsoft have finally given up details for their controller-free gaming experience, Kinect. You'll be able to buy Kinect packaged with Kinect Adventures for an SRP of AU$199.

Additionally, the system will also be part of a bundled Xbox 360 package that will come with a console, Kinect and Kinect Adventures and will set you back an SRP of AU$449. Unfortunately we've only been given the vague description of "Christmas" and "Holiday" as any sort of release date for Kinect here in Australia, though we've contacted Microsoft local to get something more solid. It's due to land in the US November 4, so you'd assume we'd at least be close to that.

Stay tuned.

whilst its still pretty exspensive, its not too bad considering the U.S is paying $150 for the kinect.

They just don't have the games to support that kind of launch price point. The whole range is games aimed at the casual (ie: Wii) market, but it's launching at a price that only hardcore early adopters would be interested in paying.

They really should have started low and sold at a loss until manufacturing costs came down.

It definitely has potential, but the software just isn't there to support it yet, colour me surprised it it actually lasts long enough to get there though.

yeah seems a bit crazy for $199 considering I've seen Wii's on special for $199, obviously they come with Wii sports, which I assume is similar to Kinect Adventures.

If its based at the casual market then it fails on price, and like dan said, doesnt have the games to attract the hardcore gamers, so not quite sure what the point of it is at the moment.

I still think Microsoft can't name anything well if their life depended on it.

How many people have an xbox, then also have a wii for these stupid casual games? Seems like you're wrong and there is a market for something that costs about $200 in addition to an xbox and does what the wii does.

I don't see this catching on and I have no interest in it the slightest much less the fact its $200 alone. Also why did they settle on kintect? Why such a lame ass name? Natal was better. Agreed they can't name their products if their ass was on fire.

My brother is heaps excited about this, personally I couldn't give a wet rats ass, if I want to move around like a retard I'll just go outside and play real sports.

I dare say kinect came from kinetic and connect, you connect with your console through kinetic movement? What would you have called it?

Natal wasn't a good name and Kinect is just a not-very-good-at-all portmanteau.

Yeah I think Kinect won't sell very well just like the Wii did
Just from what I've seen so far its far better than the Wii and Move so alot of people will buy this at $200 RRP for christmas.
People need to add up the costs for the extras on Wii for 4 player and Move.
And yes the name is pretty s***
