There's a fair bit of cheating going on in the online world of Red Dead Redemption - so much so it's caught the attention of Rockstar Games who're addressing the situation both in the form of an update for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, as well as a set of new rules.
We'd just like to let all fans and players of Red Dead Redemption Multiplayer know that we're aware a few rotten apples persist in the online world, trying to make the experience unpleasant for everyone else. Obviously, these Multiplayer modes can be great fun when everyone is on the up-and-up, so to ensure we preserve the integrity of gameplay for all online, we are actively working on new features to counter against the isolated incidents of abuse that go on.
If you're caught haxing the game, you can be banned for a "period of our [Rockstar] discretion", while anyone being bullied in Free Roam any time they spawn in, will now be given a choice of spawn locations, and anyone who generates a six-kill streak while in Free Roam will become "Most Wanted", which will alert other players and NPC lawmen that they're a "player-killer".

It's great to see the team are handling the situation with aplomb, and aren't simply ignoring cheating mechanics, like a few other games recently.

"Expect that we'll continue to monitor the lay of the land and fight the good fight via future title updates," Rockstar posted on their site. "To make sure everyone's multiplayer experience is as fair and as fun as can be."
