A new trailer for the anticipated Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO has landed, showing off some of the jaw-dropping visuals we've come to know and love from this game. The trailer was leaked a little early in advance of the official release, but it is now "official".

so, whats the game actually like?


From the sounds of things, a bioware game but as an mmo. A single companion character at a time, and fully voiced (player char included).

I'm not sure what to make of it, since I usually find bioware game engines really clunky and annoying to play in, and can't really imagine wanting to play an mmo that wasn't as smooth as WoW. I always end up loving their stories and characters though so am going to give it a shot.

Player ships were also confirmed. One thing I'm liking is the sith emperor apparently being some thousand year old kid in white robes, for something different.

I don't know what thats a picture of, but the sith lord in the trailer is pretty obviously different, and isn't some f** anime character.

I don't like watching these cool cinematic videos, because they loook awesome, and then I have to remind myself that the game looks boring as f***. It's WoW with a Star Wars skin to it, when it could have been so much more. I know it has some new conversation engine and all that, but the rest of the actual game is just click on enemy, use skill. There's already 1000 games like that.

That's the sith lord emperor dude, who hasn't been in the movies, just once in the prequel comics they're releasing at the moment (which are boring as f*** by the way, don't bother with them).

edit: I'd also like to complain about the amount of flash and link click confirmation their site uses. I just like to complain.

Yeah but the whole decked-in-black-and-scarred sith thing has become a cliche within the franchise, going for the opposite might actually make playing that faction interesting.

The effects on the force push at the end? It's meant to show how much energy they're expending.. Works for me, but I'm a prequel fan so easily pleased etc :)

I previously said that the comics were terrible, just started reading them properly and am finding them actually quite good and now feel bad and felt that needed correction.
