Donning his virtual puffy pants and ability to defy gravity, Mike Bantick has taken Ubisoft's most recent Prince of Persia, The Forgotten Sands, for the proverbial spin; running it through its paces and along walls to give us a rather in-depth review.

Not to be mistaken with the new movie on its way, The Forgotten Sands actually finds its place amidst the series' original reboot, once again telling a tale that revolves around sand... sand apparently forgotten.

This is probably one of those games I would check out if it came out at a quieter time of the year, and not a time when I'm buried in awesome games that I already don't have enough time to play as it is :(

I loved the first 3 and I love this one, but it does feel like a step backwards. The larger number of enemies and environment all feel like a great upgrade, but the combat has been dumbed down to the point that it getting in combat feels stressful, and not 'cause of difficulty but because combat is so dull and repetitive.

I have no idea why they removed all the good parts of the combat from the first few games, but it ruins an otherwise great sequel.

I always thought games like prince of persia were suited to kids. It reminds of the side scrolling beat'em ups like double dragon and final fight, except with the benefit of new technology. The gameplay still seems the same. You keep bashing the attack button and progress forward. That sort of gameplay was fun when you're 10 years old, ....but these days?? geez...

Sands of Time was not so much about bashing the attack button, as it was about the awesome platforming and solving all the sweet puzzles involving time manipulation. It was only later in the series it became more of a button mashing god of war clone with platforming tacked on as an extra. Sands of Time was an absolutely brilliant game, the series got progressively worse after that imo.
