The Dragon Age: Origins website now has The Darkspawn Chronicles DLC available for purchase - for Xbox 360 and PC, anyway; the PS3 version is still coming soon (pricing, in USD: $5 [400 BioWare Points, 400 MS Points, $4.99 PSN]). From the page:
Play as the darkspawn! The city of Denerim, jewel of Ferelden, girds itself for war. As a hurlock vanguard, you alone hold the power to make thralls of your fellow darkspawn and drive them into the heat of battle. Heed the archdemon's call--Denerim must burn!

Key Features:
- A look at an alternate history: what if your character had died in the Joining ceremony, and the Grey Wardens marched under Alistair's command instead?
- Command genlocks, hurlocks, shrieks, and even the mighty ogres.
- Complete the module and unlock an epic Darkspawn item in DA:O and Awakening.
- Requires Dragon Age: Origins to play.

Sounds cool. Im still wondering if the Awakening expansion requires the disc to play though, or if its like the oblivion expansions where it install to your hard drive.

as cool as dragon age was in many ways... the final battle with the archdemon was so fkn annoying that i'm not going back!
i don't really see why ya'd wanna micro a hoard of darkspawn anyway... even ogre are weak as piss compared to high lvl character.

What?! That was one of the easiest boss fights in the game. I finished it first go?

For $5 i'd imagine it's a 20 minute playthrough.

I agree with demon the arch demon was a b****, still he wasnt hard enough to give up on the game.

Yeah, I actually found the Archdemon fight to be really lame, it felt like a HUGE anti-climax. It was supposed to be the ultimate badass, basically an insane old god, and it went down like a chump. I had more trouble killing the mage adds he summoned than the archdemon itself.

I can't bring myself to go back to Dragon Age though, granted I put like 70+ hours into it the first time around, but looking back on it, its just too rough when stacked up against something like Mass Effect 2.

Awakening needs the full game to play - as does all the DLC.

Enjoying Darkspawn Chronicles so far...

Game needed about 3-4 more dragons. Just optional ones you could hunt down for loot and accolades aside from the main campaign.

Yeh I took her down too.

Still not enough fights with great big monstars. Fun though, its one I reckon I'll come back to eventually for a second playthrough.

Yeah that was a bit of a let down too. She started out as this uber mean dragon that seemed hard at first because I kept getting knocked on my arse and stomped on, but then I left my archer right up the back and just pecked away with arrows for ages and she didn't even move to stop it. I felt dirty by the end of that fight.
