While a lot of studios appear to be losing PC-focus on their multi-platform titles, it's good to see the folks at EA DICE still giving the desktop version the extra attention it deserves in the hotly anticipated Battlefield: Bad Company 2.
Today's video takes a look at the PC-specific features of the game such as a powerful game-server browser and a re-worked user interface to better cater mouse input. Then of course, there's the performance graphical benefits afforded to the higher horse-power PCs - unlocked framerates and field of vision, higher resolutions and both fullscreen and widescreen aspect ratios.
Couple that with higher player number support (32 vs max of 24 on consoles) and it's clear that much more care has been taken with the PC version than some other recent shooters.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 is due on PC and Xbox 360 on March 4th 2010 with PlayStation 3 following on March 11th.

one thing i would like to see is auto balance.
lastnight i was playing on a server with 11 people (16player server). the enemy team was a bunch of stackers so it was 3vs8. the other players on my team were really good and we did really well defending but ended up losing after about 20 mins. however when it was out turn to attack we won within 5-10mins. f*****g stackers got their arses kicked.

Yeah, had a massive battle for the Apache's heliport last night and when we finally got it first two things I thought of was the line from Saving Private Ryan "They really didn't want to give up them 88's" and giving kudos to the other team for putting up such a fight.
Was awesome!

And as someone who doesn't play a lot of fps and isn't a crackshot ninja pro, Bad Company 2 is a game where I can still feel useful, and you can still do reasonably well even if you don't know the map inside out and aren't full of mad skillz. Whereas MW2 on the other hand, I just seemed to spend most of my time dead and getting frustrated.

i think they have a few game modes. one is capture the flag. not sure if its like old ctf or like the one you described. you can only play one gamemode in the beta/demo. not sure what its called but you need to capture 2 comm stations in a region. once you do, you move to the next region of the map to capture those comm stations. theres 4 regions on the map.
also if you want to grab it youll probably have to get it on console since youll need to preorder it to get a beta key on PC. console i think you can just download it and play.

The feel of the guns and gameplay has always felt kind of dongs, and the vehicles always seemed like too much d***ing around. Not trying to insult anyones tastes, I've known plenty of right proper gamers that love the series. I've just never come away from a bf gameplay session and thought "I want to play that again".
I have been pulled into it on occasion at lan parties and whatnot and pretty much regretted it every time, haha.
While the server browser is good to have even tho theirs is terribad, the main issue is that the gameplay is made for console, no prone, no lean, no strafe while sprinting. May seem small but totally ruins the game play.
Actually I'm not sure that's "console gameplay" that just a design decision DICE have made and I think it's much better that way. No more matches with half you team prone "sniping". I'm not real for or against lean but really who can run sideways at full speed? You may not like it but I wouldn't label it console gameplay.
And I believe the US price on Steam is still cheap for pre-order if you happen to live in the US when you buy it.

yer i was never really interested in this game until i played the beta. i havent been interested in any of the BF games since 1942 which i loved.
i really hate that theres no strafe while sprinting. sure you cant strafe at sprint speed in real life but i can still side step pretty quickly. they could have just had it that if you have sprint key down, you sidestep quicker than if you were just walking but its not quite a sprint speed. a speed in the middle would have been nice.

Edit: I did try the beta, didn't seem much different really? I guess the smaller maps would have improved it in various ways.
I actually preferred codename eagle to 1942.

im a bit confused that some people are saying they hated BFBC yet they love BFBC2 they are almost identical games imo, in fact so similair after playing the demo on PS3 now for quite some time, i consider BFBC2 just a patched version of BFBC with some new content/maps

So no more cap at 30-50 fps on 4850s and 5770s?

That said it's good to see the producer completely respects the PC gaming multiplayer community. Shame I don't like the game as it feels like a way inferior game to the old Enemy Territory Quake Wars :P

You're s***ting me? No lean in mw2 s**** me enough as it is but to lose strafe while running and prone too. Screw that. Plus EA has their fingers in this cookie jar so you know the game is gonna be buggy as hell on release & the DRM on the physical media version will prevent you from playing and the downloaded version will have its own issues.
Auto patcher? Oh hey don't let me select a nice fast server that gives me unmetered data for your 270meg patches, just download them for me automatically from some overseas server at 30kb/s.
Sod off. Do not want.
Posted 07:17pm 26/2/10
BFBC2's gameplay without those features will still be amazing.
Prone and strafing whist running had to go in my opinion, leaning I will miss but it's not going to break the game by not having it.
I'm hopeful that you'll be able to download the patches manually and that the auto patcher is just a feature for those who would use it.

I cant remember how sprinting worked in 1942 and BFV, but since bf2 im sure you couldnt sprint strafe either, calling it consolized is kinda funny, seeing how sprint stafing in a war game seems very arcadish and consoley :)

As for leaning, I was referring to other games.
