Previously only revealed in Japanese language media, Square-Enix have today announced Front Mission Evolved for English markets, an all-new action title developed by Double Helix Games due for release on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
The first of its kind in the series, FRONT MISSION EVOLVED is an action-packed Third-Person Shooter and the next instalment in the classic FRONT MISSION franchise. Players will take full control of the Wanzer, a massive humanoid, fully customisable war machine, in single player campaign and online multi-player.

Featuring Hollywood style production values and a totally immersive storyline, players are thrust deep into a swirl of destruction, conspiracy and crumbling alliances, and battle through intense combat situations as man strives to create the ultimate humanoid fighting machine in a war against terror.
We have two trailer for the game available for you to check out today, one being an extended version of the other (we know, it confused us a little too). For the shortened trailer hit here, otherwise you can watch the extended one embedded below.

I don't know about this... I've played all up to Front Mission 5, and with the conversion to a third person shooter, it doesn't have the same feel as the original games.

Now it's pretty much just Armoured Core, which isn't such a bad thing, but it's definitely not the Front Mission I fell in love with

The second Front Mission game released was Front Mission: Gun Hazard, so they've done this before.

@Mantorok

Yah, I've played it. I did like it, but as with the new one being released, it didn't feel like a FM game to me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this game will be horrible, It's just I don't feel like it's a true Front Mission

Fuzzy - My point was this isn't really a first for the series like the press release claims. Although I think it's a good idea to do spin-offs like this to expand the brand, especially when a shrinking Japanese games market means Square-Enix needs to appeal to more people in the rest of the world.

True... I see what you're getting at.

These games were the only strategy rpgs I ever got into. I guess I'm just itching for another typical Front Mission to be released locally. As far as I know we missed out on 4 and 5
