Ubisoft have sent through a trailer, new screens and release and pricing information for the forthcoming debut of Assassin's Creed 2 DLC, which will feature 2 new Memory Sequences, Battle of Forli ($5.30) and Bonfire of the Vanities ($6.60).
Sequence 12: Battle of Forli - Available end of Jan
Assassin's Creed II Sequence 12: Battle of Forli expands the Assassin's Creed II experience by delivering a missing piece of the storyline. Join Machiavelli and Caterina Sforza to defend Forli from the Orsi Brothers. Accomplish a daring rescue and prevent the Piece of Eden from falling into the hands of the Templars. Uncover new depths to the historical conspiracy by gaining access to six challenging new memories. Pilot Leonardo's flying machine across Romagna.

Sequence 13: Bonfire of the Vanities - Available end of Feb
A must for Assassin's fans, Assassin's Creed II Sequence 13: Bonfire of the Vanities continues to expand the addictive AC2 universe. Work with Machiavelli to free the city of Florence from the grip of the mad monk Savonarola by targeting influential citizens under his control. Battle, sneak and free-run your way through more than ten challenging new memories. Discover a new district of Florence, and utilize Ezio's brand new move: the spring-jump.
We have the new trailer available for you to check out right here, while the new screens can be viewed directly below (click each for a larger view).

I'm playing this at the moment and so far it's good stuff. Lots of things to see and do. DLC's seem reasonably priced so i'll be nabbing em when the time comes.

Jan and Feb, so these should come packed with the PC version.

you'd think so

I'm not sure what's up with the different pricing - that just seems weird

Bonfire of the Vanities has 10 missions, and Battle of Forli only has 6 by the sounds of it, that probably accounts for the price difference. Pretty reasonably priced though, I'll be grabbing them both for sure.

why not just package them together though for a single price... I guess they wanna stretch it out

maybe because $5 sounds better then $11?

Stretch it out, make people hang onto their copies of AC2 longer, which means less second hand copies being traded in and sold maybe.

Two sequences that had to be cut from the game (I'm assuming), due to time constraints. So now instead of never getting to play the stuff that was left on the cutting room floor, for a few dollars extra, you now get hours more game that you wouldn't have otherwise had. How again is this a bad thing?

People do it with films all the time, Peter Jackson released special editions of all the Lord of the Rings films with 30 - 40 minutes of extra footage added back in to each movie. People happily paid hundreds of dollars to get those versions of the movies, how is this any different?

Khel defender of gaming companies, upholder of DLC's.

That's a terrible analogy khel. He released dvd's with special content/cut scenes because the movie would have been 5 hours long. Not because he ran out of time making them then after the movie aired and he decided to create the special content. Also, you weren't required to buy the dvd, then the special content as two separate purchases.

DLC's are fantastic, except companies are abusing them in my opinion.

I'm just playing devil's advocate, everyone loves to jump on the anti-DLC bandwagon, so someone has to present the other side :P

Also, you weren't required to buy the dvd, then the special content as two separate purchases.

You weren't, but they still released the normal movies on DVD, and then didn't release the special editions till months later, so I'm sure a lot of people still did end up paying twice.

I'm just saying, you're getting extra content that would have otherwise been left on the cutting room floor. Its not like this stuff was done and they with-held it because they wanted to make money off it later on. If it was Activision, maybe I'd believe that, but Ubisoft are generally better than that. Assassin's Creed 2 is a fantastic game, I'll happily spend $10 for more Assassin's Creed 2. Luckily, its optional, so if people don't like it, they don't have to buy it!

But, I do agree, some companies are abusing DLC, paying for new costumes for Tekken or Streetfighter or Soul Calibur, especially in the case where the stuff is already on the disc and you're just paying to unlock it, is pretty s***. But stuff like this AC2 content, or the Fallout 3 DLC, or what GTA4 did, or the Burnout Paradise stuff is all awesome.

At least this DLC is getting release somewhat close to the release of the title.

I have found with a few games I have purchased, I have finished them and moved on, and the DLC really isn't enough to warrant me playing the game again.

Just get on your knees already and service your new DLC overlords.

Street Fighter 4 yes, but not Tekken 6. Its got a bucket load of character customasation that are 'purchased' within the game using points earned by beating up people, which is the way it should be.

I get your point though :P

Yeah, I think it was Soul Calibur that I was thinking of where you buy unlock codes as DLC that unlocks costumes already on the disc, but I left Tekken in there anyway just in case :P I figured, they're both Namco, I'm sure they have some dirty DLC plans cooking for Tekken!

I don't know it for certain, but I figured I'd give Ubisoft the benefit of the doubt instead of being a big "They're all out to screw us!" style conspiracy nut.
