Once fierce enemies, Microsoft and Nokia have teamed up in an effort to cut in deeper on the Smartphone market, directly throwing down a gauntlet to Research In Motion's Blackberry.

"This is giving some of our competitors -- let's spell it out, RIM -- a run for their money," said Nokia Executive Vice President Robert Andersson, to Reuters. "I don't think BlackBerry has seen the kind of competition we can provide them now."

The collaboration means most of Microsoft's key Office applications such as Word and Excel will now be made available on Nokia handsets among much more. Check out the full story here.

It is awesome news. This is what companies should be doing, joining forces to give us a better product instead of isolating themselves like misers trying to get all the money for themselves.

See how you go, as I'm yet to see/hear anyone say anything nice about the N97. Their ass-raping of Gizmodo the other week kind of sealed that one for me too (If you missed it, think IGN + McDonalds from a few years back. Just not as much red).

Shut your eyes whenever infi posts do you?

Office is cool I guess, but I'd much rather they get the f*** off Symbian...
