Ubisoft have released the first in a series of developer diaries for the hotly anticipated Assassin's Creed 2. Today's video introduces Ezio, the new Assassin ancestor you'll be playing as this time around and describes among other things, how he's differs from the original game's Altair.

Check it out right here on AusGamers. Assassin's Creed 2 is due November 19th 2009 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

I started playing 1 but never got into it. Bought the iPhone version last night and its actually pretty sweet.

What I find most interesting about this, and about a lot of what we gathered from E3 is the Ubi keep talking about Ezio in the beginning being different to how he'll be in the end, because I'm finding it difficult to picture because of the play style of the first game - if they can truly deliver a character growth experience beyond simple weapon and move upgrades related specifically to the character's personality and beyond, they could have a seriously awesome game on their hands...

they probably mean his motivations change during the game. i remember them saying at the beginning hes out for revenge. maybe something happens during the game that alters this.

edit: just watched the vid. they pretty much say his motivations change.

Looks like they've added a lot of stuff to combat (well I hope), taking their weapons could be handy. And the double hidden blade kill was awesome (spikes looked to go through the head).

Hoping by that footage we can now actually kill more than one person at a time in maneuvers. The whole 50 people surrounding you in number 1 and countering them all one at a time got boring quickly.
