Capcom have sent through word the first DLC update for Resident Evil 5 will be arriving on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace tomorrow.
Versus allows up to four players to match wits in online battles across two very different game types. Slayer's Rule is a point-based game that challenges players to kill Majinis. In Survivor's Rule, players hunt the most dangerous game, each other! Players can begin the hunt as Chris, Sheva or other secret characters, and choose from either one-on-one or two-versus-two team matches for either of the two gameplay styles.
The content will cost 400 MS points and around AU$10 on PSN.

Tweaking balance is a small change, adding a new difficulty to single player would be a small change, adding multiple online multiplayer modes that are far beyond the scope of the original game isn't what I'd really call a small change.

Still don't think I'd get it though, can't really imagine using RE5's control scheme working so well for this.

Some even released whole separate multiplayer versions for free on the PC (eh:RTCW).

Console epic fail... I like all gaming platforms but since Xbox Live this has been my biggest gripe. They charge you for maps...they charge you for so much crap. If the same game is available on PC...the content is free...it's stupid.

I wouldn't put too much blame on Microsoft. I know it's fun, F*** MICROSOFT but you have to remember that the gaming companies are the a******* here.

Erm no.

Microsoft presented another way to garner revenue from the punter to games dev's and they jumped at it and they did it as a way of trying to get developers to come on board their platform. So sure, blame game companies but to make out that Microsoft don't play a role is naive.

I bought Fifa09 today and I am blown away that through the goodness of EA's heart I get auto player and team updates to 1 league for a trial period and have to pay for the privilege for other leagues to be updated.

Haha you're joking right. You're comparing league update to multiplayer update? You have little tiny addons like horse armor then you have major updates that were clearly removed before release then later put up on DLC for "small price". While Microsoft did present the DLC idea, they didn't force the game companies to use it especially not in RE5 way.

Like I said, Microsoft aren't the real a******* here.

I got no problem paying for extra content that has obviously taken quite a bit of time and effort to make (case in point, Fallout 3's DLC), but stuff like new costumes for Streetfighter IV characters or paying to unlock cheat codes is pretty dodgy.

Still, as the consumer, you've got the power to just not buy it if you don't like it.
