Following last month's
announcement of new titles in the popular Need for Speed Series, EA have now released the debut trailer for Need for Speed SHIFT.
You can scope out the debut trailer that boasts "Actual Game Footage"
right here on AusGamers.
To re-cap, SHIFT is the maintstream title in the new Need for Speed lineup, with a greater focus on the simulation aspect of racing games than the series is generally known for. Today's trailer indicates that the game will likely be more comparable to Microsoft Games' Forza Motorsport series in terms of arcade vs simulation racing - not surprisingly as GTR2/GT Legends developer Slightly Mad Studios are doing the grunt work on this one.
Need for Speed SHIFT brings a true driver’s experience to some of the world’s most iconic racing tracks, including the storied Brand’s Hatch in the UK. The game also features the largest roster of high-performance cars in Need for Speed history including race cars such as the Pagani Zonda, Porsche 911 GT2 and Lotus Elise.
Update: EA have announced an Australian release date of September 24 2009 for the game, due on PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable.

I don't know if it's just me being noob at racing but I tried playing forza 2 again the other night and it seems the AI in it is about as well thought out as a f*****g nail through the middle of your forehead. I'd be driving along all happy and cheerful then suddenly out of nowhere some f*****g car has just run me off the road or hit me and spun me out.
It seems they've programmed the cars to run on rails and be in a certain place at a certain point on the road and not bothered to make them check to see if you're there. What really gets my axe murdering rage level up is that it then gives ME a f*****g penalty because THEY hit MY car and I was in front of them.
Yeah I got this the other day & got bored doing the missions so decided to get ou on one of the big roads & see how far it went, seems to be a really open world because I drove for a good long while & ended up in what I imagine would be another state on the map, in fact I think I drove through 2 or 3 different states.
Have you managed to do any of the cost to state ones? I get oh so close but no cookie on so many occasions :(

But anyway I guess the excuse is that multi is the only important aspect these days, but most of the people you race are just as thick as the AI in games like GT4 anyway.

sure have!
use all the little traps around the joint to take out multiple cars at once:

So you went about taking out the cop cars to rack up the $$$? At first that's what I thought you had to do but tonight I managed to kain through a bunch of those orange signs bringing stuff down without affecting the cop cars. Turns out you don't even need to take out any cop cars for the cost to state one.
I did the stadium one earlier tonight where you have to take out 3 cop cars, I just lead them all up the ramp into the stadium & took out the big sign, got all 3 in one hit muhahaha.
This is probably the most fun I've had in a need for speed game since lan games of porsche unleashed (I think). Need some multiplayer NFS:UC action methinks.
