Rockstar Games today revealed Red Dead Redemption, a follow-up to 2004's Old West action title Red Dead Revolver. Being crafted at Rockstar San Diego, Red Dead Redemption will utilise GTA 4's RAGE engine and expand on it's predecessor's open-world gameplay.
Red Dead Redemption features an open-world environment for players to explore, including frontier towns, rolling prairies teeming with wildlife, and perilous mountain passes - each packed with an endless flow of varied distractions. Along the way, players will experience the heat of gunfights and battles, meet a host of unique characters, struggle against the harshness of one of the world’s last remaining wildernesses, and ultimately pick their own precarious path through an epic story about the death of the Wild West and the gunslingers that inhabited it.
Red Dead Redemption is currently slated for Fall 2009 (US) on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The first batch of screenshots are now online on our freshly baked game page.

3rd person over the shoulder games are pretty much first person shooters but you can see your character.

Err...
Last time I checked, a 1st person shooter didn't have any problems with a model blocking something you needed to see.
