Taking on the MMO genre is no easy task these days, especially with Blizzard owning such a massive slice of the pie, but if any franchise is capable of making an impact, it's Star Wars.

With this in mind, LucasArts have once again teamed up with RPG legends, BioWare, for an all-new Star Wars MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic, an expansion of the Knights of the Old Republic series with some serious depth.

Today we've uploaded a developer diary for the game from BioWare that talks about how the team have focused very heavily on narrative and story, and about their goal to create an MMO where choices actually make a lasting impact on the game.

Just how deep that is will remain to be seen, but so far it's looking pretty cool.

I hope their system is a bit more evolved from earlier games. Most hero types we see in movies and what not are diamonds in the rough like Indy or John Mclain but the system for the original KOTOR games and for many that have mimicked it's good/evil system have done poorly at representing a character that does a bit of good here and a bit of evil there.
