Among the product announcements at the Atari Live event in London yesterday, was the first official trailer for The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena. Dark Athena is the long-awaited new-generation update to The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, the critically acclaimed first person shooter from Swedish developer Starbreeze Studios.
Previously intended as simply a graphically updated remake of Butcher Bay, Dark Athena is now being crafted as a full-blown sequel, including a multiplayer mode that the original lacked.

It started out as just a "next-gen" remake of Butcher Bay, then they added an entirely new singleplayer campaign as bonus content. Now they reckon that the new campaign is fleshed out enough to actually be the new game and so the Butcher Bay part has become the bonus content.
