Showing they're not entirely platformist, Rockstar Games have cleared the record to say Grand Theft Auto IV will feature an online multiplayer mode on both the Xbox 360 and PS3. It was recently speculated that alongside exclusive episodic content, Microsoft's console would also be the only one to have multiplayer after the company's VP of Interactive Entertainment, Don Mattrick, said in a Major Nelson podcast "It's an amazing piece of software, and I'm really excited with its downloadable content and online multiplayer support - again, that's something that's unique to 360. We think consumers are going to love that, and it's going to create what I would describe, again, as the premium experience on our platform."

There is still no concrete information on what exactly the multiplayer component of the hugely anticipated title will be, but come April 29, owners of both consoles will be able to find out.
