Having, over the Christmas break (and beyond), put Halo 3 in its place as the number one played Xbox Live game, Call of Duty 4 is about to give its faithful punters some serious love. Across both home console platforms (PS3 and Xbox 360), all-new downloadable content in the form of new multiplayer maps will make their way to the respective systems "this autumn", according to Activision Australia.
"We’ve demonstrated our commitment to delivering the best multiplayer experience in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and that continues with our plans for new downloadable content," explains Infinity Ward's Community Manager, Robert Bowling. "We’re excited about the new maps, and the added gameplay variety, and we can't wait to wrap things up and get online with everyone."
The release mentions nothing about new modes, weapons or the like, but Bowling's comment "and the added gameplay variety" could suggest there's more than just maps on the way. No mention of this stuff coming to the PC community at present, but on both accounts we'll let you know when we know.
