The 2008 Game Developers Conference 2008 is just around the corner (Feb 18-22), and as usual the rumours are running rife with what will be talked about and unveiled at the event, arguably the most exciting of which is an announcement from Epic (or Midway) and Microsoft we'll be seeing Gears of War 2 on the Xbox 360 and GFW platforms in the not-so-near future.

Both CVG in the UK and GamePro in the US have magazine articles suggesting the game will be announced to be in development at the event, however, Epic Games have told Eurogamer, "the show is where we sell our engine not our games".

The success of Gears of War on the Xbox 360 would no-brainingly suggest a sequel was coming, however, Epic Games have also been busy with the likes of Unreal Tournament 3 for PC and (to everyone's surprise) the PS3 and also recently said they were going to begin focusing on all new IPs. Where that leaves the GoW series and these rumours then is anyone's guess. There's no denying a sequel to one of the biggest games of 06 wouldn't be welcome though, so here's hoping.

True that, but M$ themselves did say recently they had a few big announcements for the show...
