Ubisoft today announced that an all-new Far Cry title is in development for PC. The hotly anticipated follow-up to the smash hit Far Cry, which was developed by Crytek Studios (who're now working on
Crysis for EA), Far Cry 2 is being handled internally for Ubisoft at their Montreal-based studios and is due to hit in the early part of 2008 according to the Ubi press release.
"Far Cry marked the beginning of a new era for shooters. An era of gorgeous graphics and of advanced artificial intelligence," declared John Parkes, marketing director, EMEA. "We are confident that Far Cry 2 will have the same impact again on the face of the FPS genre."
You can see more of the game by hitting the official link to the title
here where you can see a very brief trailer of the game in action. There's no word from Ubi yet as to whether or not the title will make its way to consoles, but given the current landscape for this type of game, it's a fairly safe bet. We'll give you more as soon as we have it.
