Following on from this week's good news that pubilsher Ubisoft was not going to include Starforce in HOMM5 comes
this report from 1Up that they're going to be dropping it completely. Good news for gamers! One bad DRM system down, only a few more to go.

/backflips!!!
We did it!!
Holy crap !!
As I have mentioned before (not that I really care), you WoW kiddies should take a leaf out of our book an do the same until you get an physical server here in Oz
Edit: Now we just have to convince other publishers to do the same.

Why?
WoW plays perfectly fine on a cable connection. I very, very rarely get a bad connection on the server I play and even if that happens it's only for a few minutes and even then it's still highly playable. The good thing about WoW is it's not like an FPS where you need accuracy to shoot things.

Now I can't read many discs, including brand new DVDs. They run fine in my other PC's DVD drive, and my regular DVD player. I get masses of errors trying to read files now, and there's no indication of dirt, spin imbalance, or any other hardware problem. I've worked with PC hardware professionally for years and this looks to me like some kind of firmware corruption. There certainly hasn't been any physical trauma to the drive.
Has anyone done firmware comparisons before and after StarForce infection?
