As previously hinted at, EA DICE have now released the 12 minute Full Length "Fault Line" gameplay trailer, which is the complete segment of the game that was shown in real-time to press at the GDC San Fransico and EA Spring Showcase London events. While the clip is basically a concatenated version of the 3 previously released Fault Line trailers, there are a few scenes that didn't make it in to those cuts, so it's still one to watch for those die hard fans.
You can check it out for yourselves now embedded below, or
click here for the HD option.
It seems that this is supposedly the same video due for release after
one million Facebook likes, but the final version will supposedly have "linked producer commentary".
Battlefield 3 is due on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in holiday season 2011. For more details, check out our
recent interview with EA DICE Producer Patrick Bach.

Think I might hold off on the pre-order until I'm proven wrong of which I hope to be.

Unless they absolutely fail somehow I will be pre-ordering. Looking forward to MP.

And for an Alpha, that game is looking so good.

And yet you have to shot a guy 4-5 times before they stay down.
At least it looks better than Bad Company 2, that game should never have been allowed a single player campaign or at the very least the writers should be in jail for it.
I have no idea why someone would pre-order a game well before it's release. It used to be if you pre-ordered something from a store at most you had to give a small deposit but with these digital pre-orders they want you to pay for the full product months in advance and offer you some token incentive to do so. Thing is if you pre-order a day or two before release you still get the token incentive. It's just like paying a bill, you don't do it until the day before it's due because the money is better off sitting in your account than it is theirs.
Then again, I guess with Steam sometimes you can get lucky and land a pre-order just before they put the region based pricing on.

If they are using jets then surely they would have to.

Yea I noticed when the player briefly switched to single fire it just didn't cut it, he swapped back pretty fast. No hardcore mode = no buy, but I expect it will have one.

@Deadly, I haven't had any troubles with Steam so far, so I might get it digitally, or depending on price, from ozgameshop.

It's different to say, StarCraft 2 - which right from the start is made to be a game that will be played seriously and competitively for many years. Blizzard know that, and they know that unless they make the game like that, it won't stand the test of time, which is the important thing for a game to be used in e-sports.
The Battlefield franchise though is about making a new game every 12-24 months and selling it to as many people as possible. They're not trying to sell one game to a billion people and have them play it for 5-10 years; they want to sell you a game and get you hooked on the franchise so you just keep buying the same game every year.
Now, I'm not saying that makes them evil, or makes them bad games. They're still fun games, I'm sure. But people like me (and it sounds, you) don't really want that - we want a game that we can play seriously, a game that takes multiplayer as being of the utmost importance, so that we can test our skills against others in structured, consistent ways. But unfortunately that is counter to what they want to do with Battlefield - unlocks, ranks, medals, etc give people a short-term focus and everyone is generally less interested in hardcore competition.

Honestly, I couldnt care less about SP. Battlefields always been MP. 1942 didnt even have SP.

But as you mention, it's against the marketing ploy they are using at the moment. It's release, then maybe a map pack or 2, then sell you the next installment... rinse and repeat.
Either way tho, BF3 already has my preorder. BRING IT

Well said but I don't personally care about comp play or take it all too serious. I am looking for just a bit of fun from such a game like the 'casuals' and I'm fine with changing game if it's good enough, I just simply don't enjoy games like this when I feel like I'm using weak weapons a la COD/BC2 on normal, it's unrewarding and see's me stop pretty fast. I guess I'm a casual with hardcore tastes.
Don't, EA store sux! Also don't get sucked in by promotional vids... as hard as it may be at times ><.

Its interesting tho that the Vietnam mod for BC2 was a further step backwards especially with the absence of bullet drop and bullet arcing from autos and then theres the fire the auto with only an ironsight from halfway across the map and have almost every shot hit.
I really hope that BF3 at least addresses those issues and the damn dolphin diving.

Its part of EA's crusade against second hand games, they do it with pretty much all their games these days, theres always something you get free if you buy the game new, that you have to pay for if you buy it second hand.

Sure it looks great, but heavily scripted linear single player is not for me.
Need info on the multiplayer before I decide to buy this.
