As previously hinted at, EA DICE have now released the 12 minute Full Length "Fault Line" gameplay trailer, which is the complete segment of the game that was shown in real-time to press at the GDC San Fransico and EA Spring Showcase London events. While the clip is basically a concatenated version of the 3 previously released Fault Line trailers, there are a few scenes that didn't make it in to those cuts, so it's still one to watch for those die hard fans.

You can check it out for yourselves now embedded below, or click here for the HD option.

It seems that this is supposedly the same video due for release after one million Facebook likes, but the final version will supposedly have "linked producer commentary".

Battlefield 3 is due on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in holiday season 2011. For more details, check out our recent interview with EA DICE Producer Patrick Bach.

The best bit by far was the 9 seconds starting at 11:43, which looked f*****g awesome. If that is MP then I'm sold, times a billion.

I'm so hard right now. If they give us campaign MP maps like ET:QW. It'd be f*****g unreal.

And for an Alpha, that game is looking so good.

Holy mother trucking win. This is utterly amazing, and I must pre-order now. Those first few minutes with the display of destruction is just...oh god finally. Seeing that guy take out chips from the walls to get to the dude was awesome as. And then the grenade destroying the crap out of that rocket launcher hole was...I need new pants.

Also, Dan or Trog, can't seem to download file off server, comes up with 404.

Despite the oldness of the gamep-lay it's still very much epic. I just hope they will make multiplayer maps the size of the classic BF2 64 player size maps!

And yet you have to shot a guy 4-5 times before they stay down.

At least it looks better than Bad Company 2, that game should never have been allowed a single player campaign or at the very least the writers should be in jail for it.

I have no idea why someone would pre-order a game well before it's release. It used to be if you pre-ordered something from a store at most you had to give a small deposit but with these digital pre-orders they want you to pay for the full product months in advance and offer you some token incentive to do so. Thing is if you pre-order a day or two before release you still get the token incentive. It's just like paying a bill, you don't do it until the day before it's due because the money is better off sitting in your account than it is theirs.

Then again, I guess with Steam sometimes you can get lucky and land a pre-order just before they put the region based pricing on.

@deadlyf, I guess its somewhat annoying now with digital pre-orders, but I'm happy to know I have my copy fully paid for, and that I can get a full refund whenever I feel like it before release. Paying in full is just like eventually paying in full at a brick and mortar store. No money difference, and any pre-order gets kharkand.

Yea I noticed when the player briefly switched to single fire it just didn't cut it, he swapped back pretty fast. No hardcore mode = no buy, but I expect it will have one.

It's supposed to be the other way around though. SP should allow for some realism and MP should focus on fun. One shot one kill in MP turns a game into a creep/snipefest where everyone is afraid to move. On the other hand if a mob in SP keeps getting up after you shoot them you may as well be playing a Zombie shooter.
Eorl
Posted 08:33pm 17/4/11
Because singleplayer has always been about story, and not extremely strong weapons. There will be parts, like the mounted machine gun, that will give it the feel of a "extreme" situation where you can mow down people. I know they should offer realistic damage, but in the end, if it's fun, it's fun.
Trauma
Posted 09:35pm 17/4/11
I guess I'm just different cuz I don't find weak weapons in shooters trying to be realistic to be fun at all. Having to unload stupid amounts of ammo into a single target is just annoying. But yea I do hope this has hardcore where I can 1 shot someone or them me under the right circumstances.

Exactly, if this doesnt have hardcore i wont be buying it. BF2 was ridiculous with the amount of auto ammo you had to offload on someone to get them to drop (and im not talking about the dolphin diving)..... Hope that is made impossible!

They don't really make these games for hardcore players any more though. So features like that - features that make it a game that can be played as a "pro" game - aren't really considered from the ground level.

It's different to say, StarCraft 2 - which right from the start is made to be a game that will be played seriously and competitively for many years. Blizzard know that, and they know that unless they make the game like that, it won't stand the test of time, which is the important thing for a game to be used in e-sports.

The Battlefield franchise though is about making a new game every 12-24 months and selling it to as many people as possible. They're not trying to sell one game to a billion people and have them play it for 5-10 years; they want to sell you a game and get you hooked on the franchise so you just keep buying the same game every year.

Now, I'm not saying that makes them evil, or makes them bad games. They're still fun games, I'm sure. But people like me (and it sounds, you) don't really want that - we want a game that we can play seriously, a game that takes multiplayer as being of the utmost importance, so that we can test our skills against others in structured, consistent ways. But unfortunately that is counter to what they want to do with Battlefield - unlocks, ranks, medals, etc give people a short-term focus and everyone is generally less interested in hardcore competition.

You make some good points Trog... i just wish they would bring back mod tools and lose the dedicated server system they currently have and open it up again. Then you will have a solid modding community who bring life and value back to games when they have long since lost their peak players... Take AIX for example for BF2. One of the greatest mods i've ever played and it kept me playing BF2 for a long time after i got sick of basic Vanilla....

But as you mention, it's against the marketing ploy they are using at the moment. It's release, then maybe a map pack or 2, then sell you the next installment... rinse and repeat.

Either way tho, BF3 already has my preorder. BRING IT

Well said but I don't personally care about comp play or take it all too serious. I am looking for just a bit of fun from such a game like the 'casuals' and I'm fine with changing game if it's good enough, I just simply don't enjoy games like this when I feel like I'm using weak weapons a la COD/BC2 on normal, it's unrewarding and see's me stop pretty fast. I guess I'm a casual with hardcore tastes.

I agree totally with you Trog, its a real shame its moved towards that. Day of Defeat was the last fps shooter for me that gave me what i consider a true fps hardcore multiplayer challenge.

Its interesting tho that the Vietnam mod for BC2 was a further step backwards especially with the absence of bullet drop and bullet arcing from autos and then theres the fire the auto with only an ironsight from halfway across the map and have almost every shot hit.

I really hope that BF3 at least addresses those issues and the damn dolphin diving.

Its part of EA's crusade against second hand games, they do it with pretty much all their games these days, theres always something you get free if you buy the game new, that you have to pay for if you buy it second hand.

Sure it looks great, but heavily scripted linear single player is not for me.

Need info on the multiplayer before I decide to buy this.
